Frequently Asked Questions
What is the red time above the timer?
Each time you use a hint a time penalty is incurred. This is a fair way to prevent players from skewing the speed ranking by just using hints to solve a puzzle -- which can be done if you want to skip a puzzle.
How does ranking work?
We're not a fan of having a select few dominate a leaderboard. So we use a relative ranking system. If you take longer than usual to solve a puzzle you can still have a great ranking if all other players are having difficulties as well.
The ranking icon indicates if you're above or below average for a puzzle's elapsed time. We also reward those with exceptional times by giving them a colourful gem at the centre of the rank icon.
